Bloodhorse is conducting this poll so I thought we might try it here. I added 1984 because I think that was one of the best! The Blood-Horse editorial staff members were asked to identify their top 10 races in the Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I) and it was no easy task just deciding by which criteria a race should be judged—toughness of the competition, margin of victory, a monster pari-mutuel? After comparing the results and wrestling enough just with which Tiznow Classic to include (in the end we had to leave them both in), we came up with a list for you to now sort out. Vote for the Classic you believe stands out among the 10 top races shown here

My favorite (best?) isn't on the list but I voted anyway. My favorite was the second Classic, at Aqueduct, won by a head by the fast closing Proud Truth - the FIRST "J. Velazquez" (Jorge) and John Veitch.

The 1989 BC Classic which was the culmination of the Sunday Silence-Easy Goer rivalry will always be my favorite because of all that was at stake that day. Horse Of The Year, Champion 3YO Male honors: That was the one for all the marbles and both horses delivered. That stretch drive is still one of the greatest in history and I think perfectly symbolizes what the BC was orginally supposed to represent.
