OAKLAWN TO BRING BACK DIXIE BELLE STAKES NEXT WEEKEND Track Already Hard at Work Repairing Track HOT SPRINGS, AR (Saturday, Jan 12, 2012) – Oaklawn, which was forced to cancel its live race cards for Saturday, Jan. 12 and Sunday, Jan. 13 due to unsafe track conditions caused by heavy rains, will run the $60,000 Dixie Belle Stakes next Sunday. Seven fillies had been entered for the Saturday feature. The track crew estimates that over two inches of rain fell in about 30 minutes that caused the track to wash out in several areas. The track will be closed Sunday for training as well, but Oaklawn is hopeful to have horses back on the track for training Monday. Live racing returns Thursday, Jan. 17 with a 1:30 p.m. first post. This will be a special five-day race week with the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday card, Monday, Jan. 21. www.oaklawn.com/news/2013/jan/12/oaklawn-bring-back-dixie-belle-stakes-next-weekend/
