KK - Know anything about this? Paulick Report A piece of land that was formerly part of Garden State Park in southern New Jersey is at the center of a dispute between the land owners and Cherry Hill Township, according to a report by The Philadelphia Inquirer. The 10-acre parcel just off Route 70 is jointly owned by Penn National Gaming and Greenwood Gaming and Entertainment, both of which gained approval to build an OTB site there a decade ago. The two owners are holding off on development there to see if sports betting becomes legal in New Jersey. Chuck Cahn, mayor of Cherry Hill, wants to rezone the parcel as a “redevelopment zone,” making it more attractive for purchase by corporate interests that could benefit from a highly-visible campus. The grandstand at Garden State Park was razed in 2005 after the struggling track closed in 2001. Shopping centers and residential development has popped up on most of the 600 acres formerly occupied by “The Garden.” Philadelphia Inquirer Full Story: Battle brews in Cherry Hill over unused site at former track www.philly.com/philly/news/new_jersey/20130825_Battle_brews_in_Cherry_Hill_over_unused_site_at_former_track.html#wSoU5Lsy28OOHqoa.99
