The New York Racing Association, Inc. today announced a season long partnership with Swiss watch company BALL Watch USA and its Capital Region retail partner, Northeastern Fine Jewelry, to serve as the preferred timepiece sponsor and jeweler of the 2013 racing season at Saratoga Race Course.
Northeastern Fine Jewelry and BALL Watch USA will present special timepieces to the winning owner, trainer and jockey of the 144th running of the $1 million Travers, the oldest major stakes race for 3-year-olds in the nation, on Saturday, August 24. This year's Travers is expected to feature Kentucky Derby winner Orb, Belmont Stakes winner Palace Malice and Haskell winner Verrazano with the potential 3-year-old championship on the line.
"The New York Racing Association is thrilled to partner with two celebrated and recognized names in the jewelry industry for the 2013 meet at Saratoga Race Course," said NYRA Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Rodnell Workman. "Their presence will undoubtedly complement the prestige and charm that have become synonymous with Saratoga."
"BALL Watch is truly honored to be the preferred timepiece of Saratoga Race Course and we are thrilled to be in such good company as Northeastern Fine Jewelry throughout this exciting partnership," said BALL Watch USA CEO and President Jeffrey Hess.
"Northeastern Fine Jewelry is honored to work with BALL Watch to bring such a prominent brand to Saratoga Race Course this season. We could not think of a more appropriate timepiece to align with the prestige, history and tradition that comprise the summer season at Saratoga," said Northeastern Fine Jewelry President and Founder Ray Bleser.
BALL Watch USA and Northeastern Fine Jewelry will serve as the presenting sponsors of the Union Avenue (NYB) Stakes on Monday, August 19. Beginning that day, racing fans will have the opportunity to win a BALL Watch timepiece worth approximately $10,000, courtesy of BALL Watch USA and Northeastern Fine Jewelry. Entries will be accepted at ballwatchusa.sweptin.com/giveaway through August 31. The winner will be selected via random drawing.
BALL Watch USA and Northeastern Fine Jewelry will also serve as sponsors of the annual Travers Celebration at Saratoga Race Course on Thursday, August 22. The annual gala, the official party of the Travers, benefits the Backstretch Employee Service Team, the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund and the Times Union Hope Fund.
Additionally, as many as five BALL Watch branded railroad style clocks are featured at several of Saratoga Race Course's most historic and high profile locations, including the paddock mutuel shed and The Post.
