There are members/viewers of both forums. Many have followed Dee's (Mandi's mare) story and her battle to recover from a horrific injury. This is not the time to grind axes over forum/net "stuff". Yes - I was hesitant to post this but I wanted to. Because, all personal clashes aside, one thing all members have in common - love of the horse.
Dear Mandi,
We would like to express sincere condolences to you. We respect your brave, selfless, emotionally difficult, but humane parting with Dee. You were heroic in your efforts to help her heal and also heroic to allow her to depart with dignity. May your memories help you through the loss.
Godspeed Dee
Sincerely,
Evelyn & Jon On behalf of PaddockPros

THANKS EVELYN...this tragedy with Mandi's mare, Dee has brought ALOT of W2W peeps together in support of her and it was VERY refreshing to see after all the recent contention...even those embroiled the most put down their own interests and agendas to extend sympathies to Mandi during her difficult decision to let Dee go. It was heartbreaking to her and I think all the support she has gotten from everyone (coming out of the woodwork) has really helped her with this. It has been SO sad to see Dee suffer through this and then ultimately to know she couldn't recover...initially they thought it was a Water Moccasin bite but in the days and week following the event it appeared to be more likely a bite caused by a Brown Recluse spider. Either way it was tragic and that poor but brave mare endured daily tretaments of those horrible necrotic wounds (on her face) but her founder was ultimately too much and Mandi became her savior through humanely letting her go. Dee was in so much pain that the day she passed for a couple hours prior she was out under her favorite tree and with her herd and a gentle breeze blowing...it was surreal and a fitting last few hours for this beauitful mare. THANKS SO MUCH EVELYN.

Ev, I don't think Mandi reads over here so I hope you don't mind that I copied your posts here in this thread to her "Dee" thread over at W2W....I know it will warm her aching heart....and again, THANKS SO MUCH for showing the spirit in our collective love of the horse (and all things horsey) that shines brighter than ANY contention or bickering ever can, will or has. Thanks VERY much!

"To place your horse's need for you to let him leave his failing body above your need to keep him with you - that - is the greatest and purest love."

RIP Dee.
Mandi - Always a tough decision but it was right. Hug your others and talk to them about her. They'll understand.

I would also like to extend condolences. Losing any family member is always a very difficult and emotionally draining experience. Peace be with Dee and Mandi and her family.

For all of the disagreements between forum members here and over @ W2W, the one thing we are ALL united in is a love and appreciation for these magnificent creatures. Mandi you are to be commended for all of your care and devotion to this animals in particular the ill-fated mare Dee. I realize that her passing is equal to losing a family member. It is never easy but the right decisionwas made for the well being and comfort of the mare. All nonsense aside, I offer my deepest and most sincere condolences on your loss. As I said, it is never an easy pill to swallow, but this too shall pass in time.
Shooter.
