I was looking forward to this race and seeing Julia. I hope she's OK.
Close Hatches, Dreaming of Julia skipping Coaching Club By David Grening
ELMONT, N.Y. – A rematch between Close Hatches and Dreaming of Julia, the first two finishers in the Grade 1 Mother Goose here June 22, will not happen in the Grade 1 Coaching Club American Oaks at Saratoga on July 20.
Trainer Bill Mott said Close Hatches would not run in the Coaching Club because she recently developed a fever that cost her some training time.
“We’re not going to press to make the Coaching Club,” Mott said.
The Grade 1 Alabama on Aug. 17 most likely is the next target for Close Hatches, who, in addition to the Mother Goose, won the Grade 2 Gazelle at Aqueduct in April.
Dreaming of Julia, the beaten favorite in both the Kentucky Oaks and the Mother Goose, will skip the Coaching Club, as trainer Todd Pletcher said he wants to give the filly more time off before her next start. Pletcher said the Alabama is “the next possible target.”
Pletcher said Kentucky Oaks winner Princess of Sylmar and Fair Grounds Oaks winner Unlimited Budget will run in the Coaching Club, a 1 1/8-mile race that leads to the Alabama at 1 1/4 miles a month later.
Another horse pointing to the Coaching Club is My Happy Face, the recent winner of an overnight stakes at Belmont.

It's funny how so many of TAP's 3-YO's need "time off" . Maybe he isn't the best trainer after all??
