It will be interesting to see what happens on the days Chruchill and KY Downs both have live racing.
Kentucky Downs purses to average $900,000 a day By Marty McGee
Purses at the five-day Kentucky Downs meet in September will average about $900,000 per card, with the meet centerpiece, the Grade 3, $400,000 Kentucky Turf Cup, being packaged with four $150,000 stakes on a Sept. 14 program being called Kentucky Downs Million Day.
The inflated purses at turf-only Kentucky Downs are being fueled by revenues from Instant Racing machines. Some maiden races will be worth $90,000, including bonuses from the Kentucky Thoroughbred Development Fund.
The Kentucky Downs dates are Sept. 7, 11, 14, 18, and 25.
In all, eight stakes will be run at Kentucky Downs, with the other three, all worth $150,000, scheduled for opening day. The condition book is available at kentuckydowns.com.
Churchill Downs also will run a 12-day meet in September, with two of its Saturday dates, Sept. 7 and 14, conflicting with Kentucky Downs.

I believe the two dates that overlap with KY Downs are the dates Churchill will have the Night racing. I am curious to see how the horseman play this out as to wether the go for the purses @ KD or stay and run on the cards here @ CD. Don't have any idea right now on what kind of stakes schedule CD has for their Sept. meet (Fri,Sat and Sun only). The plot thickens, if the horsemen go to KD then I believe CD will try and push again for somekind of legislation on expanded gaming pointing to the purses and ability to get full fields @ KD.

I know its good for the horsemen who have the lesser and cheaper horses to have higher purses in the undercard races, but there is just something wrong with racing today when mdn. races are going for 60 % of what stkes races are. the purses should be tiered differently. it should mean something more then just black type for breeding to win a stks. race.
