Wise Dan honored as KTOB Horse of the Year
Wise Dan was named the winner of three 2012 Kentucky Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders (KTOB) KY-bred champion awards, including Horse of the Year, at Thursday's annual KTOB KY-bred Champions Awards Luncheon hosted at Keeneland in Lexington, Kentucky.
In addition to Horse of the Year, Wise Dan was voted KY-bred champion handicap male and turf horse male while his dam, Lisa Danielle, was honored as the 2012 KTOB Broodmare of the Year.
Wise Dan, who is owned by his breeder Morton Fink and trained by Charles LoPresti, is the reigning Eclipse Horse of the Year, champion older male and champion turf horse. Fink also owns Lisa Danielle.

Three-Year-Old Colt: I'll Have Another (Harvey Clarke)
Three-Year-Old Filly: Believe You Can (Brereton C. Jones)
Handicap Mare: Royal Delta (Palides Investments N.V. Inc.)
Turf Horse Female: Tapitsfly (Frank L. Jones Jr.)
Sprinter: Groupie Doll (Fred and William Bradley)
Steeplechase: Demonstrative (Gainsborough Farm LLC)
Racing Abroad: Certify (Hurstland Farm Inc., William Kartozian, & Darley)
Four merit awards were also presented to individuals for their contributions to the Kentucky Thoroughbred Industry.

Hardboot Breeder Award pays tribute to distinctive but unsung breeders that help make up the backbone of our industry: Fred F. Bradley
Charles W. Engelhard Award acknowledges a member of the news media for outstanding coverage of the Thoroughbred industry: G.D. Hieronymus
W.T. Young Humanitarian Award distinguishes a person in the Thoroughbred industry "who recognizes and promotes the human endeavor": Josephine Abercrombie
Also receiving awards were the top Kentucky Thoroughbred Development Fund (KTDF) money earners in 2012 in five separate categories.
KTDF Sire of the Year: Distorted Humor (WinStar Farm)
KTDF Earner of the Year: Cheery (Claiborne Farm & Adele B. Dilschneider)
KTDF Owner of the Year: Kenneth L. & Sarah K. Ramsey
KTDF Trainer of the Year: Michael Maker
KTDF Breeder of the Year: Claiborne Farm & Adele B. Dilschneider
The recipients of 2012 KTOB KY-bred champion awards were voted on for the first time by the full membership of Kentucky Thoroughbred Association (KTA)/KTOB while the KTDF category leaders were tabulated using purse money won at Kentucky racetracks in 2012.
