Star Guitar LA Horse of the Year–Again

Brittlyn Stable's Star Guitar , a perfect three-for-three in 2012 before being retired to stud, was named 2012 Louisiana Horse of the Year for the fourth year in a row June 8 at the Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association annual meeting at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots in New Orleans.
Star Guitar, a homebred son of Quiet American out of the Malagra mare Minit Towinit, raced for Maurice and Evelyn Benoit's Brittlyn Stable and was trained by Al Stall Jr. In all, Star Guitar won 24 of 30 starts and earned $1,749,862.
Twenty-two of those wins came in stakes. Star Guitar, who is now wrapping up his first season at stud at Clear Creek Stud near Folsom, La., was also named champion 4-year-old and up male for the fourth time.
Brittlyn Stable was also tabbed as the state's leading breeder by percentage of winners. The stable's X Strawdnair was named broodmare of the year for 2012. X Strawdnair has five stakes winners from seven starters, including 2012 Louisiana Futurity winner Sunbean (by Brahms ). Her other stakes winners are Beanwah'smachine (by Successful Appeal ), Miss Bean Wah (by Afternoon Deelites), and Brother Bean and Mean Butterbean (both by My Friend Max).
J. Adcock's Red River Farm was honored as the state's leading breeder by breeders' awards in 2012 by collecting $208,000. Red River Farm's Leestown was named the state's stallion of the year.

2-year-old filly: P. Dale Ladner's Sittin at the Bar
2-year-old colt/gelding: Keith and Steve Asmussen's Westernator
3-year-old filly: Garland Goins' She's Prado's Idol
3-year-old colt/gelding: Hooties Racing's Look at the Time
4-year-old and up filly or mare: Carl R. Moore Management's Speedacious
