Heh, Whiz - What happened to the Arabians that used to race there? Why were they kicked off Los Al? I never heard - do you know?

supposedly allred wanted a guarantee from them that they would not leave when the fairs started up every year. he would only give them stall space and card races for them if they agreed to stay there year round. when the said no, he stopped carding races. basically cutting off his nose to spite his face. something he is famous for. there is such a shortage of horses there he cant even fill a full card or run 4 days a week anymore and hes kicking horsemen out for not kissing his ass. same thing he did with the 870 races. he would rather show he is the boss then put a good product out there for the publicafter he got cheap and canceled the 870 distance championship 4 or 5 years ago, when snowbound was so dominant, he lost all respect from the horsemen who had 870 runners. that was such a chicken s**t move on his part I wanted to bash him in the head myself. I am not a fan of his.

Thanks for the info, wiz - I figured you would know.
If you know that Ed Allred made his money by performing thousands upon thousands of abortions in CA and started a chain of abortion clinics throughout the state, that easily explains his attitude.

no not illegal, but just shows what you will do for a buck. some people jhave different morals and beliefs then others cait, and im pretty sure based on your last respons that your views probably aren't going to be the same as mine or even MM on this subject. that's just my guess. but that is neither here nor there for this forum. i just don't like the guy. never have. when he took over los al from Lloyd Arnold and the harness groups, he had a chance to be the savior of the place and the industry. but instead he has run it worse then they did. i hate harness racing, but truthfully, they had a more successful product and ran the track better the allred. i hate to admit that but it is true.

I hv=avent been there now since 2005 but as far as I know he hasn't done anything since he built the vessels club about 20 years ago, and that did nothing for the average fan. its pretty bad when you spend tens of millions on the vessels club and don't have a working bathroom on the main level of the grandstand.

Delaware has a lot of Arabian races. We went once and I remember Jon looking at the from and saying "How can these horses be so damned slow?" - Yes - I pointed out it was an Arabian race LOL I might be wrong, but it seems the front runners win most of the time.
This isn't great news but still some decent purse money.
DELAWARE PARK PURSE DECREASES FOR 2013
The 2013 Delaware Park race meet is scheduled to open on Saturday, May 18, which is Preakness Day. This first condition book, which covers racing from May 18 through June 26 shows a reduction in purses compared to 2012. At the end of 2012, we were in an overpayment situation. That combined with the fact that Delaware casinos were down 24.1% in revenue left the racetrack no choice but to cut purses for both thoroughbreds and Arabians by 10%.
While the stakes schedule is still tentative, their purses have been reduced to provide more money for the overnight races. However, there will still be nine stakes throughout the season; five with purses of $30,000 or more including the $50,000 Delaware Park Arabian Classic H. (G1) and four with purses of $20,000. Complete details on the stakes races will be made available as soon as the schedule is finalized.
Even with the purse reduction, Delaware Park still welcomes the Arabians with one or two races per day.
