ACTION PACKED CARD FOR FRIDAY NIGHT
A field full of sprinters with stakes racing experience and a Thoroughbred event featuring razor sharp fillies and mares will headline Friday’s racing action at Los Alamitos. A total of nine races are on tap with first post set for 7 p.m.
Seven Quarter Horses will compete in the $11,530 fourth race at 300 yards and the field will include Shesa Stylish Chic, who competed in the Native Empress Handicap last month, Northwest arrival Alittebitofivory, the winner of the 2012 Bitterroot Derby at Les Bois Park, Cash Him Out, the third place finisher in last year’s Whosleavingwho Handicap, and Jus Ledoux It, the winner of the First Down Dash Handicap in 2011. The field will be completed by Hezaregal Charmer, who twice hit the board in allowance races this season, as well as 2012 allowance winner R Womanizer and Jess Wilson, who has won six of her last eight starts at Los Alamitos.
Thoroughbred distaffers will head the seventh race at 4 1/2 furlongs and will include J Louie, who scored an impressive 5 1/2 length victory as the favorite facing similar rivals on April 20. The field will also feature Grand Mischief, who finished first or second against $5,000 claiming fillies and mares in each of her last three starts. Maria Lake will also race after a 4 1/4 length victory against $3,200 claimers at Turf Paradise in her last start on April 27. Friday’s action will also feature a freshman race headed by Streakit Dasher and RGR Chicsluvme, a pair of runners that ran second in their respective debuts.
25 FRESHMAN TO RUN ON SATURDAY NIGHT
Three races for 2-year-old sprinters will highlight Saturday’s nine-race program at Los Alamitos. All three races will be contested at 300 yards. First post time is 6 p.m.
The first dash for juvenile runners is scheduled as the second race and will feature seven runners eligible to be claimed for $8,000 each. The field will four sprinters with racing experience and will include Cloudy Dasher, who finished fourth in her trial to the Kindergarten Futurity on May 5. Among the first-time starters in this race is Mimi Mi, a half-sister to 2005 champion aged mare Mini Rock.
A full field of 10 2-year-old maidens will be in action in the fourth race on the card and El Pretty Boy will come in having already hit the board twice this season. Owned and bred by Ruben Jimenez, the Sports Cartel colt’s last outing was a third place finish in his trial to the Kindergarten Futurity. Other sprinters in this race include the Stel Corona gelding Unchangeable, who posted bullet drills on both May 4 (:12 flat) and May 16 (:12.40). Handy Manny will also debut in this race after posting a bullet workout on April 25 (:12 flat). Seven other promising sprinters will race.
Eight 2-year-old fillies will compete in the eighth race on the card. Dunn Ranch, Ltd’s Khaleesi, who finished powerfully when second in her debut on April 27, and Felix A. Gonzalez’s Foose filly A Mere Diva are among the princesses that will see action in this sprint.
