1st: Orb - He hasn't lost a step after his Derby win. If anything, he's moved up a few lengths. He is simply better than these horses. The rail post is a concern but he's got the best jock in the land on his back in Joel Rosario who will make the best of it. The confidence displayed by the normally understated Shug McGaughey convinced me that Orb was a virtual lock in the Derby, and the fact that confidence has not wavered but amplified in his preparation for the second jewel makes it a no-brainer for me once again. Shug is not a blowhard, he's not a braggart and he rarely if ever talks up his horses the way he's done with Orb. So, when he does, you had better pay attention. 2nd: Departing - An improving horse who is being grossly overlooked by the bettors and a fresh horse to boot. Came out of Louisiana which has proven to be a key contingent in this year's Derby to win the Illinois Derby. I do not think he's reached the level of a horse the caliber of Orb just yet, but has looked great at Pimlico this week and will be dangerous. 3rd: Goldencents - I don't think he cared much at all for the slop at Churchill. Never looked confortable and was basically eased in the last quarter so should come into this race relatively fresh. Like Departing, he has trained great at Pimlico. Look for him to be in front early and a much improved effort in the Preakness. And there you have. A great day and GL to all. GO ORB GO

Damn A masterful ride by Gary Stevens. Never count out "The Coach" or Gary Stevens. Way to go Oxbow. Orb just had no chance being stuck inside horses the whole way. Shug classy as always. Disappointing no TC Winner but another win for the old school.

I agree shooter. Please don't tell wiz that I did play Oxbow LOL I really wanted Orb to win and as Everyone said the rail was dead, don't understand why Joel stayed there. He had lots of chances to get out.

Orb didn't have it today - I don't think it would have mattered if Rosario would have kept him on the rail or not. Orb had a good opportunity - there was no horse.
Stevens was a very good jockey today - he let the horse tell him how to ride him at the beginning. And when he knew the horse was there, he pushed him to the finish. Congrats to the 'old man' (and to Lucas too)!

I agree with MM. people make way to much out of the post in a race like this. he was empty. he could have started in any post today. he had nothing. and if you did bet oxbow ev, congrats. you did the right thing. anytime you like a 15-1 shot theres nothing wrong with betting him. you got value for your money. I just didn't like him.

Ditto all. Orb was never comfortable stuck down on the inside. Hopefully he'll come out of the race in good shape and go on to the Belmont for another shot at Oxbow.
