Sorry Shooter. he wasn't going to win the Dullmont anyway. The rail is a death kiss for the plodder Orb.

Plenty of speed to his outside with Goldencents and Titletown Five. A versatile runner like Orb can make his own trip and Rosario is the top jock in thd biz right now. He'll be just fine IMO. And in case anybody was wondering for historical reference, the last horse to win the Preakness from the rail post was Tabasco Cat in 1994.
GO ORB GO!!!!!

cait: Shug doesn't sound all that worried. Orb won the Fountain of Youth from the 1 post with a much shorter run to the first turn than what he'll get at Pimlico. Joel will have enough time to secure a position with speed horses in the next two stalls over. And he'll save ground unlike the Derby when he had to circle the entire field. He showed us in the Derby just how explosive his turn of foot can be when he passed 15 horses in a 1/4 of a mile. And that was on a sloppy track which would typically favor early speed. So yeah.......PLODDER SCHMODDER most def LOL

treet that was the most ridiculous thing I have even seen. they have orb sitting 4th on the rail early and smarty jones coming from last? stop the nonsense.

its 9 horses, unless rosario rides the rail the whole way around and gets stuck that'll be the only way his post will affect the running of this race. the 2-3 will both spurt out of there which should allow him to go out at least 2 paths. as mentioned this only affects him if rosario rides a bad race. best horse, best connections.....his main opposition is Governor Charlie who will either lock in a drop dead fast pace or come from just behind the front runners. I can only envision Orb or GC winning the race, but I'll be rooting for Orb.

Vic - I agree. It's not a big field and it's a long race. There's plenty of time to get off the rail. Zoe Cadman said the rail's dead so Joel best not stay there! I'm not sure how rain might affect the track or if it will affect this race.
