Kentucky Derby, Oaks Fields Taking Shape

The fields for the May 3 Kentucky Oaks (gr. I) and Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) the following day continue to take shape, with eligibility in each race to be determined by the new points system conceived by Churchill Downs.
According to the Churchill Downs communications office, as of April 18, the following are the probable fields for the 139th renewals of the two races. The Derby is limited to 20 starters and the Oaks to 14 starters, each based on points earned in certain races. Any ties will be decided by earnings in non-restricted stakes races.
