Turf races of course. ‘Win and You’re In?’ Two Notable Woodbine Fixtures No Longer Part of BC Series Two of Woodbine’s most important turf races will not be included as part of the Breeders’ Cup Challenge Series this year. The Canadian International (Can-IT) and the E.P. Taylor Stakes (Can-IT), which have been a part of the series since 2007, will not have ‘Win and You’re In’ status this year, according to the Daily Racing Form. The Breeders’ Cup announced its list of races that make up the Breeders’ Cup Challenge Series on Monday. The races that are included from Woodbine that are in the series are the Natalma (Can-IIT), a one-mile turf race for 2-year-old fillies on Sept. 14; the Summer Stakes (Can-IIT), another one-mile turf race for 2-year-olds that day; the Woodbine Mile (Can-IT), a turf race for 3-year-olds and up on Sept. 15; the Canadian (Can-IIT), a 1 1/8-mile turf race for fillies and mares also on Sept. 15; and the Nearctic Stakes (Can-IT), at six furlongs on turf for 3-year-olds and up. “The Breeders’ Cup is more interested in the [Woodbine] Mile, the 2-year-old races, and the Nearctic,” Steve Lym, racing secretary and director of racing for Woodbine told the DRF. “It seems that horses that run in the International and E.P. Taylor rarely continue on to the Breeders’ Cup. They seem to be more part of a circuit that heads to Asia for races like the Japan Cup and Hong Kong Vase. www.paulickreport.com/news/the-biz/win-and-youre-in-two-notable-woodbine-fixtures-no-longer-part-of-bc-series/

who is making these decisions? the BC gets worse and worse every day - the "powers that be" are IDIOTS! they upped by 20+ races yet cut Wbine? huh? like we're really looking forward to those So African, German etc. runners that we've never heard of before? oh right - it's a "world" championship - i forgot - the BC is and has been on the flip side of "build it, they will come" for several years - guess they will have to do another Zen promo this year to fill the seats

Cait, the "Win and You're In" thing has always been a sham to me. Just another reason why the BC needs to go.
