Best wishes for a healthy, speedy recovery
Maragh undergoes surgery, sidelined indefinitely Brisnet
Jockey Rajiv Maragh underwent surgery Sunday morning at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, New York, to repair a broken right arm suffered when he was unseated during the Grade 1 Jockey Club Gold Cup at Belmont Park.
"They put in a couple of plates and some screws and he seems to be fine," said Maragh's agent, Tony Micallef. "We don't know yet how long he will be out."
Maragh suffered the injury about halfway through the running of the 1 1/4-mile Jockey Club Gold Cup, when he fell from his mount, Wicked Strong, who had clipped heels with Moreno.
Moreno, who went on to finish fourth behind winner Tonalist, was disqualified and placed last for having angled in on Wicked Strong.
Maragh, 29, is the fourth-leading rider at the Belmont fall meet with 15 victories and purses earned of more than $1.4 million.
One race earlier on Saturday's card, the native of Kingston, Jamaica, won the Grade 1 Joe Hirsch Turf Classic Invitational aboard Main Sequence.

Other than the lost time and hardware in his arm, that's not as bad as it looked in person. Too bad, Maragh was in the middle of his best year yet earnings-wise. I'm not a fan, but don't like to see anyone injured like that.
It was a blatantly reckless and dangerous move by Alvarado. It'll never happen, but they should suspend him for as long as Maragh is unable to ride.
