Well, can't post the card for September 20th, but will try to remember around September 15th.
After tonight, here is the Charles Town stakes schedule leading up to September 20, all $50,000 state bred stakes:
May 24 It's Binn Too Long S. (WV) $50,000 F 3YO 4 1/2 furlongs June 14 Fancy Buckles S. (WV) $50,000 F&M 3&up 4 1/2 furlongs June 21 Coin Collector S. (WV) $50,000 3YO 4 1/2 furlongs Aug. 9 Robert G. Leavitt S. (WV) $50,000 3YO 7 furlongs Aug. 16 Sadie Hawkins S. (WV) $50,000 F&M 3&up 7 furlongs Aug. 23 Frank Gall Memorial (WV) $50,000 3&up 7 furlongs Aug. 30 Sylvia Bishop Mem. (WV) $50,000 F 3YO 7 furlongs
A few $150,000 stakes in June or July would attract some decent local horses and some from Laurel, Delaware Park, or Parx.

I don't see where that has anything to do with this year! I also don't see where anyone said Clubhouse Ride was a big name. He is a good horse and did ship in. Ditto Moreno. Big names to me are Dude, Baze, Smith, Desormeaux, Rosario, Baffert, McLaughlin, Godolphin - not too shabby!
It's great to hear Larry Collmus calling the races.

George -Why do you keep posting the same stuff? I don't think anyone cares LOL I agree that you're totally wrong about the 150K races. I don't think they'd attract anyone in the summer as there are too many other tracks that are not a bull ring with big races.
People disagree. That doesn't make their opinions (or yours) right or wrong.

my point of the whole thing is this.......... sometimes you have to know your place. regardless of what you were told when you were a kid, not everyone can be president of the united states, play center field for the red sox, or be the cover girl for the sports illustrated swimsuit edition. tracks that exist and survive by carding 5k claimers for the most part have no business injecting that much money into one race. especially when for the most part, its not even a blip on the radar of whats news making in racing. that money should be used to add to the races that keep that place going. cheap claimers and small stakes races.

I didn't read where my husband said "Clubhouse Ride is a big name". But actually for this race, right now, 2014, he is.
Chall - Several analysts on HRTV picked him. Do you think he close with the very short stretch? I just don't see that drastic of a "speed duel", unless Mike rides badly. Dude doesn't have to be the lead.
I just boxed Clubhouse Ride, Lucy's Bob Boy and Dude. May make some more bets after reading this though LOL

Only 5-2? Chall - isn't that a little short?

So, a maiden winner and optional claiming winner (2 for 14) just won a $1.5M race and increased his career earnings by about 900%, and the local(s) got screwed as four shippers got the first four places. No doubt none of them will ever see Charles Town and/or West Virginia again.

I thought he would be lower than program price which is why I went chasing multi-race wagers with him but 2/1 was very short. The chalk didn't disgrace himself, took a punch from multiple horses and couldn't withstand the final blow.

I agree chall. dude ran a good race all things considered. those other jocks were just basically not going to allow him to win.

I agree Chall. And Kent (who a certain someone told me to watch out for) gave the horse a great ride. Am sure they are over the moon and will be partying the night away.
George - You are really a complete downer sometimes. I DON'T AGREE WITH YOU! LOL Please - get over yourself!
It was a great race. I truly hope this race takes off and has more entries and more shippers next year,
Wiz - Dude ran well. Moreno also as he had such a long layoff -even Clubhouse Ride got up for 4th and earned a nice check.

I just think, after only six runnings, that it's become a really stupid race, and tonight's result proved it. That horse lost to Game On Dude by 17 lengths last out, and has run in more claiming/optional claiming races than not.

LMAO OK - You can have the last word.
But..............I could not disagree more. Most definitely not a "stupid" race. I love when these scenarios play out because that's horse racing! Dude excels at SA so for me, the margin is irrelevant. I just wished I had played Kent!

wow a great opportunity for me here!!! I can disagree with both sides of an argument at the same time!!!
I definitely agree it is a stupid race and a waste of purse money that should be allocated to other races that support their racing venue on a daily basis, or back to the public in the form of lower takeout. also ev, the track had little to do with the result tonight if you ask me. it was the way the race set up. dude got pressured all the way, and when that happens he rarely runs his top effort. but, the results tonight were fine with me, George. that horse should have never been 26-1 in there and was a lot more predictable then you make him out to be. he beat dude under these exact same circunstances 2 back when blueskienrainbows took it to him early, and wasn't much higher of a price then dude when they ran last time over a lightening fast strip that day that was speed favoring and conducive to dudes style. now they go to a different track, that although I don't think it was the deciding factor, it still isn't udes favorite like anita is, and dude is 3/5 and imperative is 26-1? that is just plain handicapping 101 my friend. I just wish Moreno would have stopped completely. I did well in there but if ride gets third its a VERY nice score. I only bet 2 races all week and that was one of them. I bet 150 wp on diamond bachelor at anita today who stunk at 5-1, and then I bet 250 total in here and had 25 wp on the winner and a 30 dollar exacta. now I can go back into hibernation till the derby. these races really suck lately.

Wiz - The track doesn't decide the takeout rate. You tell us about Kent's horse now? LOL
Hate to tell you this but your pal said almost the same thing on the phone earlier tonight. Also that she had a fabulous day at Pimlico!

nothing to tell ev. I didn't love the horse by any means. it was just a ase of the odds being out of whack so I bet. truthfully, as I have said in the past, that is where I usually make my biggest hits. knowing when to play and when not to is 90% of the battle. when the day started I thought my biggest bet of the day would be against kaui Katie, but when she didn't get bet like I thought she might, I just passed the race. I glanced at the santa anita race for 10 minutes and saw a horse I thought would improve and make an easy lead against an odds on stevens horse who im not playing at short odds anytime soon. I was right. he made an easy lead and stevens horse lost. unfortunately, my horse stunk after making that easy lead and was no good. then I saw the Charlestown race and hated Moreno so I decided to play it and the only horse I thought had any chance of winning that wasn't overbet was imperative. so played him first and second in the tri and exactas with dude, ride, and that overbet 5 horse and made a small wp bet on him.
